The Art of Movement aims at the appropriation and reappropriation of one's environment, by means of one's body which moves with a natural method (running, crossing, climbing, jumping) while respecting the environment, nature, those and what surrounds it.
The discipline was created in the 80s by the members of the group YAMAKASI, a name of Zairian origin meaning 'Strong Mind, Strong Man, Strong Body'. It is notably at the origin of Parkour and freerunning in England.
The Art of Movement is a real state of mind in order to no longer undergo one's environment but rather relearn or learn to act and interact with it. This relationship with the environment being permanent, it is a way of moving, closer to primary functions reconnecting with instinctive, even wild, senses.
